iSpac is an online calculation service (in English, French or German) for bolted joints in accordance with the EN1591, new European calculation standard : "Flanges and their joints - Design rules for gasketed circular flange connections"

iSpac est un service de calcul en ligne (en français, en anglais ou en allemand) pour les assemblages à brides boulonnés en accord avec l'EN1591, la nouvelle norme de calcul européenne : "Brides et leurs assemblages - Règles de calcul des assemblages à brides circulaires avec joint"

iSpac ist ein Rechnenserver (auf Deutsch, Englisch oder Fransözisch) der Flanschverbindungen nach der neuen Europäischen Norm EN1591 : "Flansche und ihre Verbindungen – Regeln für die Auslegung von Flanschverbindungen mit runden Flanschen und Dichtung"

iSpac is composed of :

• a database containing:
  • more than 200 references of dimensional standards for flanges, bolts, gaskets... (EN, ASME, JIS, BS, NF, DIN)
  • material parameters
  • gasket parameters (EN1591-2, PVRC)
  • ...

• online forms to define the assembly dimensions and all the calculation parameters, possibly using standardized types and data.

• a full and reliable implementation of the EN1591-1 calculation method.

Calculation Inputs

iSpac provides forms dedicated to the definition of :

• The whole simple gasket bolted joint, suitable for EN1591 calculation,
• dimensions of element: flange, flange face, connected shell, bolts, gasket,
• parameters of element: material, gasket parameters,
• and also: bolting-up method, calculation conditions

The forms can be filled either using the database or with user-defined values.

The modular constitution of the forms allows for many parts of the joint to be defined and saved individually, so the user can build its own collection of elements and sets of parameters, then reuse them in other assembly configurations.

iSpac integrates also additional standard codes to easely input leaktightness parameters and nominal design stress values used in the EN1591-1 method.

Calculation Outputs

Once the calculation form is completed and validated, it is submitted to the iSpac server which delivers a calculation report with the following results:

• The calculation data inputs following EN1591-1 notation

• For each selected bolting-up method :
  • The effective and nominal tightening forces and torques required to satisfy the leaktightness criteria,
  • The effective and nominal tightening forces corresponding to the maximal admissible load rates,
  • Calculated load rates,
  • Joint deformations results for a given nominal tightening force: flanges rotations, bolts elongation.

• Two other tightening informations :
  • The tightening force for which the yield stress in one of the components is reached.
  • The tightening force for which the plastification of the whole cross section in one of the components is reached.
